“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!” – Psalms 143:10 ESV
This is my prayer. I have disobeyed you countless times in my life. I have been hurt and broken and have hurt you more along the way. I don’t wanna obey you simply because I’m trying to avoid consequences for my disobedience. I wanna obey you because I love you. And I wanna love you with all my heart, mind and soul. I want you to be My God, and no other! To put you first in my life and no one else!
Father, teach me to do your will because I certainly don’t know how. I keep failing this test. I have been so used to doing things on my own – trusting in my own strength and believing that, “if I don’t do this for me, no one else would!” I don’t know how to depend on someone because I have been disappointed many many times.
But you said in your word, “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:37
It’s hard. So, help me, God.
Father, teach me how to be a child to you. I want to know you more. I want to be secured in your love for me, even when I see my prayers come to pass with other people and know and believe that you have not forgotten about me. I want to have a stronger relationship with you. This is my desire. Give me more love for you and a strong desire to follow you. Let my emotions align with your ways. Let everything in my life bow down to you. Keep me broken in spirit. I never ever wanna stray from you ever again.
I love you, Dad. I’m sorry I hurt you all the time. Let’s start all over again please. This time, you walk with me, you hold my hand and you lead the way. I will not question nor doubt you again. Give me your grace to do this, for without you, I can do nothing!
“By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.
By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.
and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him. And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.”
