I call this whole chapter in Isaiah 43, “The Divine Rescue”. Reading this chapter all over again has brought a brand new meaning at this time in my life. I feel like I’m reading a part in a novel where the Prince was about to save his long lost bride who have been kidnapped and locked up by an evil army of darkness.
Then he came to rescue her from the bottom pit of hell to defeat everything and everyone who stands in the way. And as He grabs her hand from the evil prince, this is what He told her…
“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I gave Egypt as a ransom for your freedom; I gave Ethiopia and Seba in your place. Others were given in exchange for you. I traded their lives for yours because you are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you.” Isaiah 43:1-4 NLT
When she heard that she was awestruck, tongue tied and swept off her feet. She couldn’t believe someone could do such a thing for her. Her heart melts and she found herself falling in love again with her Savior.
Oh Jesus, I am so in love with you!
